Iron and Manganese in private water can show itself as brown and black staining on ceramics and sludge is cisterns as well as affecting taste and odour.
There are a number of solutions available but it very much depends on the level of each and other factors such as PH levels can affect the medias performance.
The Filox-R Filter with Clack Valve, available from WrekinWater Treatment, is expertly crafted to remove iron, manganese, and hydrogen sulphide through catalytic oxidation, offering an efficient solution for both residential and industrial water treatment needs.
pH levels need to be above pH7 for Filox-R to be affective and good oxidation helps precipitation to allow the media to operate at maximum efficiency and a minimum pump flow rate of 2m3/hr
With these factors in mind, we offer customers a choice of configurations
- The Clack WS1-CI valve has the option of fitting an Air-draw kit kit to valve. - This is both need and takes up no space if a dedicated Air Contact Assembly. This makes it ideal for domestic settings where space is usually at a premium. It uses a softener program within the valve to draw the air into the cylinder at the correct time. This optional extra can be added to the basket during your selection of the base. Please seek our advice
- Where pH is lower than required we are able to supply a unit with mixed media. Filox-R and pH media of Juraperle. This double combination increase the PH level allowing the best performance of Filox-R. In this case, we supply the vessel of the unit with a Dome Hole. The juraperle dissolves over time and needs to be topped up and the Dome Hole addition allows this to be dome with the need to dismantle the control valve. This makes future maintenance of the system much easier and well within DIYer capability We can also supply this unit with Corrosex which is a fast acting pH media if the water has very low pH and needs a more powerful boost due to the short contact time in the cylinder. Please ask our advice
- Where Iron and Manganese levels are above the minimal potable standard, but below 1000ug/l (1ppm) then iron and manganese can be dealt with by a Water Softener containing Low Fouling Resin. Many private supplies have very hard water causing scaling of appliance, white goods etc. and so a Softener fitted with this resin can deal with Scale, Iron, manganese, heavy metals and very suitable when space is at a premium.
- In cases of high sediment content in the supply the unit with a combination of Filox-R and Turbidex. Turbidex as an angular material that captures sediment and this is expelled to drain when the unit is performing it normal backwash. This unit is supplied in a standard vessel as no media topping up is required
- In extreme cases of very high Iron or Manganese concentrations we sometime recommend the Filox-R followed by a low fouling Softener offers an exceptional combination
