Lamps are matched to the specific SABRE model and chamber length, so check your system's model number (usually on a label on the UV chamber) before ordering — fitting the wrong lamp can under- or over-power the unit.

As a rule of thumb, replace the lamp every 9,000–12,000 hours of use, which works out to roughly once a year for most continuously-running domestic systems — don't wait for the lamp to visibly fail, since UV output drops well before the light stops working.

An ageing lamp still lights up but produces a lower UV dose, which means it may no longer reliably disinfect your water even though the system looks like it's working normally — that's why replacement is time-based rather than based on the lamp failing outright.

Most SABRE systems are designed for straightforward lamp changes — isolate power, withdraw the old lamp, and fit the new one following the system's instructions. If you're not confident working with the electrical connection, we can point you to your nearest installer.

Not necessarily every time, but it's good practice to inspect it — a cracked, scaled, or discoloured sleeve will reduce UV transmission regardless of how new the lamp is. If it's showing wear, replace both together to guarantee full disinfection performance.
