Frequently asked questions

Spectrum Filtration is a UK filter cartridge and housing manufacturer established in 2010, supplying industrial, food & beverage, life sciences and domestic filtration markets worldwide. We stock their range because it covers an unusually wide span of filter types and micron ratings from one manufacturer, so we can match almost any application — from a domestic under-sink filter to a commercial pre-treatment system — without mixing compatibility between brands.

Compatibility comes down to three things: the cartridge's outer diameter, its length (standard lengths are 9¾", 10", 20", 30" and 40"), and its end cap/connection type (e.g. DOE, 222 O-ring, calico). Check your housing's spec sheet or your current cartridge for these details — if you're not sure, send us the housing model or a photo of your old cartridge and we'll confirm the right match.

Each construction method suits a different job. Pleated filters pack the most surface area into a given cartridge size, giving high flow rates and dirt-holding capacity. Spun-bonded and string wound filters are depth filters, better suited to heavy, variable sediment loads like untreated well water. Carbon block filters are built for taste, odour and chemical reduction (like chlorine) rather than sediment alone. If you're not sure which applies to your water, we can help you choose based on your source and what you're trying to remove.

Many products in the range carry WRAS approval and are manufactured from FDA-compliant, lot-controlled materials — look for these callouts on the individual product page, since certification varies by specific filter line and isn't universal across the entire range.

Yes — as a Spectrum stockist we can supply case quantities and trade pricing for installers, facilities managers and other trade buyers. Get in touch with your required cartridge type, micron rating and quantity and we'll quote accordingly.
