A quartz sleeve does not usually need replacing every year like a UV lamp. However, it should be inspected and cleaned at least once per year, and replaced if it becomes damaged, stained, or no longer allows proper UV transmission.

Even if your UV lamp is still glowing, it may no longer be producing enough UV intensity to properly disinfect your water after 12 months.
