100 Gpd Membrane CSV-1812-100

The Ecosoft CSV-1812-100 is a 100 GPD reverse osmosis membrane sized to fit standard 1812 housings, the compact format used in many undersink RO systems. It uses a tightly wound semi-permeable film to reject dissolved solids, chlorine and other contaminants as water is pushed through it under pressure. Signs your membrane needs replacing

• Drinking water tastes duller or more mineral-heavy than it used to.
• The storage tank takes noticeably longer to refill.
• A TDS meter reading has risen compared to when the membrane was new.
• The membrane is more than 2-3 years old and hasn't been changed.

Inside its housing, the membrane is a tightly rolled semi-permeable film that lets water molecules through under pressure while rejecting dissolved solids and most other contaminants. Over time, fine sediment and scale foul the membrane surface and the film itself gradually compacts, so both the flow rate and the quality of the filtered water fall away even while the system keeps running normally.

How to replace it

1. Turn off the cold water feed to the RO system and switch off any booster pump at the socket.
2. Open the tap to release residual pressure in the system.
3. Unscrew the 1812 membrane housing cap, taking care of the O-ring seal.
4. Withdraw the old membrane, noting the orientation of the flow restrictor.
5. Insert the new CSV-1812-100 membrane the same way round and refit the cap.
6. Restore the water supply, then flush to drain for 20-30 minutes before drinking the water.
