Re-innovation of a modern media allows a greater void volume to improve dirt holding capacity and flow rates, while new technology allows greater carbon attachment to fibres, creating the ultimate high-flow carbon cartridges. This media has allowed for speciality solutions with the SPECTRUM PFBC bringing revolutionary dual-purpose chloramine reduction properties - tackling chloramine and holding sediment in one. This dual design utilises catalytic carbon to deliver superior filtration results that keep users and the environment safe. The presence of chloramine can have harmful effects on humans, fish, yeast production and more, making protection crucial. Compared to the ‘Ultimate Chloramine Removal’ SPECTRUM PCB, the PFBC offers a lower pressure drop and higher dirt-holding capacity whilst removing chloramine - essential features for dual-purpose applications.

The PFBC uses FibreOnyx carbon fibre technology to combine chloramine reduction with sediment holding in one cartridge, offering a lower pressure drop and higher dirt-holding capacity than the PCB, though the PCB gives the strongest chloramine removal alone.

FibreOnyx is Spectrum's carbon fibre media, engineered with greater void volume and carbon attachment than standard carbon block, giving higher flow rates and dirt-holding capacity for a given cartridge size.
