The P155 is a 3/4in rubber washer used to create a watertight seal on 3/4in water softener hose connections, such as those found on Aquamatic-style fittings. WrekinWater sells them to reseal either end of a bypass or supply hose where the original seal has perished. Because they're a wear item, it's worth keeping a spare set on hand rather than waiting for a joint to start weeping.

Signs you need this part
- A damp patch or drip appears at the hose nut connection on your softener.
- The washer looks flattened, cracked, or split when removed.
- The joint has started weeping since the hose was last disturbed for a service.
- The connection needs repeated re-tightening just to stay watertight.
This washer sits inside the hose nut and is compressed against the valve or fitting face to form the seal. Rubber perishes with age and repeated compression, and once it hardens or splits it can no longer flex enough to fill the joint, so water finds its way past it. Ignoring a weeping hose connection on a softener usually means a slow, ongoing leak near the unit that can damage flooring or cabinetry over time.
WrekinWater is a family-run water treatment specialist based in Bettisfield, Shropshire, rated Excellent on Trustpilot, with 15 years' experience keeping softeners running for over 50,000 customers. We keep small consumables like this in stock so a simple washer doesn't turn into a bigger repair.
How to fit it
- Isolate the water supply to the softener and relieve any pressure in the hose.
- Unscrew the hose nut from the fitting and pull the hose clear.
- Remove the old washer from inside the nut and clean the sealing face.
- Press the new washer firmly into place inside the nut.
- Reconnect the hose and hand-tighten the nut, then nip up gently with a spanner.
- Restore the water supply and check the joint for leaks.
