Autotrol 1242155 -742 Digital Timer Control Replacement Panel -Obsolete - Now Select Easy-iQ

SKU:0403000013

The 1242155 is the genuine-spec 742 digital timer control replacement panel for Autotrol valves, an electronic time-clock controller that regenerates on a programmed day pattern rather than by metered flow. Like the related 740 panel, the 742 has been discontinued as Autotrol has moved its control range over to the Select Easy-iQ platform, so this listing is genuine legacy stock rather than a continuing product line. It's intended for owners of existing 742-based systems who want a direct like-for-like control panel replacement while stock remains.

Symptoms that mean you need this part

  • The 742 panel's display has failed, gone dim, or shows corrupted digits
  • The keypad no longer responds so the regeneration day pattern and time can't be set
  • The panel loses its time and programming every time the power supply is interrupted
  • You need a genuine-spec 742 panel because a generic timer control isn't wired correctly for your existing valve

Why it fails / why it matters

The 742 panel sets and holds a fixed regeneration day pattern and time of day, switching the drive motor through the cycle stages at the programmed time regardless of actual water use. Being an older discontinued design, the usual failure points are the LCD display, keypad membrane, onboard capacitors and backup battery, all of which degrade with age and can cause the panel to lose its programmed schedule after a power cut. With Autotrol having discontinued the 742 in favour of Select Easy-iQ, this genuine-spec stock is finite, so once it's sold out a like-for-like panel swap for existing 742 systems will no longer be an option.

Why buy this from WrekinWater

WrekinWater has served more than 50,000 customers over 15 years from its Bettisfield, Shropshire base and would rather sell you an honestly-described legacy part than a vague description of a discontinued line. Stocking Pentair Fleck, Autotrol, Clack and Kinetico components and rated Excellent on Trustpilot, WrekinWater can also point you towards the current Select Easy-iQ control once genuine 742 stock like this is no longer available.

How to fit it

  1. Isolate the softener at the bypass valve and disconnect the transformer before removing the existing panel
  2. Note your current regeneration day pattern, time and any manual overrides before disconnecting anything
  3. Release the fixing screws or clips holding the old 742 panel to the valve body
  4. Disconnect the wiring loom, motor cable and transformer lead from the old panel
  5. Fit the replacement 1242155 panel, reconnecting the wiring loom, motor cable and transformer lead in the same positions
  6. Secure the panel, restore power, and reprogram the regeneration day pattern and time before running a test cycle
