Product Description
The 1033784 is the tank adapter that connects an Autotrol 255 or 700/Logix series control valve to the resin tank, threading onto the tank neck and locating the valve body and riser tube. It carries the full weight of the valve and the system's working pressure, so it's a common point of failure on older or heavily serviced softeners. WrekinWater stocks this adapter for engineers and DIY customers replacing a cracked or leaking connection between the valve head and the tank.

Symptoms that mean you need this part
- Water weeping or leaking from the base of the valve where it meets the tank
- The valve head feels loose or rocks slightly on the tank rather than sitting square and secure
- Visible cracking or stress fractures around the adapter threads after years of service
- You're replacing the control valve on an older tank and the existing adapter is damaged or the wrong fit
Why it fails / why it matters
Every regeneration cycle pushes water through the tank adapter under mains pressure, and the joint also has to support the weight of the control valve itself, so any weakness in the plastic shows up as a leak or a valve that won't sit securely. Repeated removal for servicing, over-tightening during installation and simple age all take their toll on the threads and sealing face, and once the adapter is cracked no amount of new o-rings will make the joint watertight again. Because it's a structural as well as a sealing part, replacing the adapter itself is the only proper fix.
Why buy this from WrekinWater
WrekinWater has been fitting and supplying Autotrol control valve components for over 15 years from its Bettisfield, Shropshire premises, working with more than 50,000 customers who need the right part first time rather than a rough equivalent. Genuine-spec parts like this tank adapter are kept in stock precisely because a softener with a leaking base joint needs fixing quickly, and WrekinWater's Excellent Trustpilot rating reflects that reliability.
How to fit it
- Isolate the mains supply and put the softener into bypass before starting work
- Drain down the tank pressure and disconnect the inlet and outlet pipework from the valve
- Unscrew the control valve from the old tank adapter and set it aside on a clean surface
- Unscrew the damaged adapter from the tank neck, checking the riser tube pipe is undamaged as it's exposed
- Fit the new 1033784 adapter to the tank neck with a fresh o-ring or seal, tightening firmly but without overtightening
- Refit the control valve onto the new adapter, reconnect the pipework, restore the mains supply and check the joint for leaks
