Product Description
The Magnum IT-762 (298) is Autotrol's high-flow 2" control valve built for commercial and industrial water softening applications where a standard 1" or 1.25" valve simply can't cope with the throughput. Fitted with metered (demand-initiated) control, it tracks actual water usage through the system and triggers regeneration only when the resin bed's capacity is genuinely exhausted, rather than on a fixed time clock, which keeps salt and water use down on high-demand sites. This is a complete replacement valve assembly, supplied ready to fit to a Magnum-format tank, and is stocked by WrekinWater for installers and site engineers who need to get a large-format softener back in service with minimal downtime.

Symptoms that mean you need this part
- The valve won't complete a regeneration cycle or repeatedly hangs partway through, and seal or piston kits haven't resolved it
- The main valve body is cracked, split or leaking at multiple points rather than a single seal
- The site's water demand has outgrown the valve's rated flow capacity, causing pressure drop at peak usage
- You're replacing an old mechanical time-clock valve with metered control to cut salt and water consumption
- The drive, meter or timer assembly has failed and diagnosis points to a worn valve body rather than a single component
Why it fails / why it matters
On a commercial or industrial softener, the 2" control valve is the single component that directs the entire system's flow through the resin bed and manages every stage of regeneration, so it sees far higher flow volumes and cycle counts than a domestic valve over its working life. Constant high-pressure cycling gradually wears the valve body, seal stack and injector system beyond what a service kit can restore, and once wear reaches that point the only reliable fix is a full valve replacement rather than piecemeal repairs. Fitting a complete Magnum IT-762 assembly restores full metered control and rated flow capacity in one changeover, rather than chasing intermittent faults across an ageing valve.
Why buy this from WrekinWater
WrekinWater has supported installers and commercial water treatment engineers for over 15 years from its Bettisfield, Shropshire base, serving more than 50,000 customers and stocking the full range of Pentair Fleck, Autotrol, Clack and Kinetico equipment. Because a commercial valve of this size represents a significant investment and downtime cost, WrekinWater processes orders quickly and is rated Excellent on Trustpilot, giving installers confidence that the replacement valve they receive matches what was specified.
How to fit it
- Isolate the softener at the bypass valve and shut down mains flow before starting any work
- Photograph and note the existing pipework, drain, brine line and wiring configuration before disconnecting anything
- Have a competent installer or commercial water treatment engineer confirm the Magnum IT-762 matches your tank thread, riser tube diameter and site flow requirements before fitting
- Disconnect the drain line, brine line and control wiring from the existing valve and remove it from the tank
- Fit the new Magnum IT-762 assembly to the tank with new manifold gaskets, and reconnect drain, brine and wiring
- Reprogram the meter settings — resin volume, hardness and regeneration parameters — to match your system before commissioning
- Restore mains supply, run a manual regeneration cycle, and check all connections for leaks before returning the system to service
