The Performa 268 with 762 LOGIX Meter Controlled Valve is a complete regenerating control valve assembly built for twin-alternating softener systems, where two tanks work together so one is always in service while the other regenerates. The 762 head uses metered demand to trigger regeneration and coordinates alternation between the two tanks, so the site never runs out of soft water even during a regeneration cycle. Supplied as a full valve and control head assembly, this unit is stocked by WrekinWater as a direct replacement for an existing Performa 268-762 valve.

Technical specifications

Symptoms that mean you need this part

  • The valve is no longer alternating correctly between the two tanks, or one tank regenerates far more often than the other
  • The turbine meter has failed or is under-reading, triggering regeneration too early, too late, or not at all
  • The electronic control head has failed and won't display, program or hold settings
  • The piston and seal stack are worn beyond what a rebuild kit can restore, causing continuous leakage to drain
  • The valve body is cracked, split or otherwise physically damaged and the unit needs replacing as a whole

Why it fails / why it matters

A twin-alternating meter-controlled system depends on the 762 head tracking flow through whichever tank is in service and switching over to the standby tank as soon as capacity is used, so one tank can regenerate while the other keeps supplying soft water. This coordination relies on the meter, electronics, piston and seals all functioning correctly; if any of them fail, the usual symptoms are one tank being worked far harder than the other, both tanks regenerating together and interrupting supply, or the valve failing to switch over at all. Where the fault is in the valve body, meter or control head itself, replacing the complete 268-762 assembly restores correct twin operation.

Why buy this from WrekinWater

WrekinWater has supplied water softener parts to installers, commercial engineers and DIY customers for over 15 years from its base in Bettisfield, Shropshire, and stocks the full range of Pentair Autotrol, Fleck, Clack and Kinetico valves and control heads. With more than 50,000 customers served and an Excellent rating on Trustpilot, WrekinWater is a reliable source for a complete twin-alternating valve like this when continuous soft water supply is critical.

How to fit it

  1. Before ordering, confirm the replacement valve's tank thread, riser tube diameter and interconnect wiring match your existing twin installation
  2. Isolate the softener system at the bypass valve and relieve pressure from both mineral tanks before starting work
  3. Have a competent installer or commercial water treatment engineer disconnect the existing valve from the tank head, drain line, brine line and twin-alternating interconnect
  4. Transfer the riser tube and distributor basket into the new 268-762 valve assembly, fitting new o-rings as needed
  5. Fit the new valve to the tank, reconnect inlet, outlet, drain, brine and interconnect wiring, then reprogram the meter and alternation settings
  6. Return the system to service and confirm both tanks alternate and regenerate correctly through at least one full cycle before leaving it unattended
