The Performa 268 with 760 LOGIX Meter Controlled Valve is a complete regenerating control valve assembly that initiates regeneration based on actual metered water use rather than a fixed clock. A turbine meter in the valve tracks throughput and triggers the regeneration cycle once the resin bed's capacity has been used, which typically uses less salt and water than a timer-based schedule for the same softening performance. Supplied as a full valve and control head assembly, this unit is stocked by WrekinWater as a direct replacement for an existing Performa 268-760 valve that has reached the end of its working life.

Symptoms that mean you need this part

  • The turbine meter has failed or is under-reading, so the valve regenerates far too early or not at all
  • The piston and seal stack are worn beyond what a rebuild kit can restore, causing continuous leakage to drain
  • The electronic control head has failed and is no longer displaying, programming or holding settings correctly
  • The valve body is cracked, split or otherwise physically damaged
  • You're replacing an obsolete or unrepairable 268-760 valve on an existing installation as a complete unit

Why it fails / why it matters

The 760 LOGIX head measures actual water passing through the valve and only calls for regeneration once the resin bed's rated capacity has been used, which is more efficient than a fixed-schedule timer valve on sites where demand varies day to day. Because the meter, electronics, piston and seals all have to work together for this to happen reliably, a fault in any one of them can leave the valve regenerating on the wrong trigger, running continuously to drain, or not regenerating until the softener has already gone hard. Where the fault lies in the valve body or meter assembly itself rather than a simple seal, replacing the complete 268-760 valve is the practical fix.

Why buy this from WrekinWater

WrekinWater has supplied water softener parts to installers, commercial engineers and DIY customers for over 15 years from its base in Bettisfield, Shropshire, and stocks the full range of Pentair Autotrol, Fleck, Clack and Kinetico valves and control heads. With more than 50,000 customers served and an Excellent rating on Trustpilot, WrekinWater is set up to get a complete replacement valve like this out quickly when a metered system needs to be back in service.

How to fit it

  1. Before ordering, confirm the replacement valve's tank thread, riser tube diameter and meter connection match your existing installation
  2. Isolate the softener system at the bypass valve and relieve pressure from the mineral tank before starting work
  3. Have a competent installer or commercial water treatment engineer disconnect the existing valve from the tank head, drain line and brine line
  4. Transfer the riser tube and distributor basket into the new 268-760 valve assembly, fitting new o-rings as needed
  5. Fit the new valve to the tank, reconnect inlet, outlet, drain and brine lines, then reprogram the meter settings for your resin volume and water hardness
  6. Return the system to service and confirm the valve regenerates correctly at the expected metered volume before leaving it unattended
