The 10501000005 is a complete brine well kit, 100mm in diameter and 960mm long, supplied with a built-in overflow and matching cap, sized for BT300 type brine tanks. The well sits inside the brine tank and separates the float valve assembly from the bulk of the salt charge, preventing salt from collapsing onto and jamming the float, while the overflow protects against the tank filling beyond a safe level. If your existing well has cracked, collapsed or gone missing, this kit is stocked by WrekinWater as a direct replacement for BT300 tanks.

Symptoms that mean you need this part

  • The brine well tube is cracked, split or has collapsed inside the tank
  • Persistent salt bridging because the well is damaged and no longer protecting the float valve
  • The overflow is blocked, damaged or missing, risking the tank filling too high
  • The well is missing entirely, for example on a second-hand or reconditioned BT300 tank

Why it fails / why it matters

The brine well is a perforated tube standing inside the brine tank that houses the float valve and overflow, keeping direct salt contact away from the float mechanism while still allowing brine to pass through its slots. Without a sound well, salt can collapse around the float and prevent it from rising and falling correctly, which disrupts the water fill level and the brine strength drawn into the softener at regeneration. The overflow built into the well is a safety feature that lets excess water escape if the float valve sticks open, so a cracked, collapsed or missing well leaves the tank without this protection as well as risking poor brine quality.

Why buy this from WrekinWater

WrekinWater has supplied genuine and genuine-spec brine tank components to installers and DIY customers for over 15 years from its Bettisfield, Shropshire base, and stocks tank-specific parts like this BT300 brine well so you can match the correct fitting rather than guess. Orders are processed quickly and the business is rated Excellent on Trustpilot, which matters when a damaged well is affecting your softener's salt efficiency.

How to fit it

  1. Isolate the softener at the bypass valve and drain down the brine tank as far as practical before starting work
  2. Remove the float valve assembly from the old well, noting how it's supported, then lift out the damaged well
  3. Stand the new 960mm well upright in the base of the BT300 tank, ensuring it seats securely on the tank floor
  4. Refit the float valve assembly inside the new well, checking it moves freely and the overflow is unobstructed
  5. Fit the supplied cap over the top of the well to keep salt out of the float chamber
  6. Recharge the tank with salt and water, then run a manual regeneration to confirm correct float and brine operation
