Product Description
The Clack WS1CI time-controlled softener valve (V1CIDTE-05) is a complete replacement control head that regenerates the softener on a fixed daily or weekly schedule rather than by metered water use, and WrekinWater supplies it as a genuine part for households and installers running Clack WS1CI-based softeners across the UK. It's a straightforward, reliable option for properties with predictable water consumption where a simple clock-driven regeneration cycle is all that's needed.

Symptoms that mean you need this part
- The softener regenerates at the wrong time of day, or has stopped regenerating on its set schedule
- The timer display is blank, unresponsive, or resets itself after every power cut
- Water hardness returns between scheduled regenerations even though usage hasn't changed
- Cracking, leaking or a damaged fitting visible on the body of the existing control valve
Why it fails / why it matters
A time-controlled valve head relies on an internal clock motor, circuit board and piston assembly to open and close the correct ports at the programmed regeneration time, and years of continuous cycling wear the seals and drive gears that make this happen accurately. Once the clock drifts, the piston sticks, or the board fails, the valve either regenerates at the wrong time or stops altogether, and because these components are built into the sealed head assembly rather than sold as separate spares, replacing the whole valve is the sensible fix.

How to fit it
- Isolate the water supply and depressurise the softener before removing the old valve
- Disconnect the drain hose, brine line and power supply from the existing time-controlled head
- Remove the old valve from the resin tank, checking the riser tube and tank O-ring as you go
- Fit the new V1CIDTE-05 valve, ensuring the riser tube seats fully and the tank thread engages cleanly
- Reconnect drain, brine and inlet/outlet pipework, then restore water and power
- Ask a competent water treatment installer to set the regeneration time, day pattern and cycle length, and to run a test regeneration before the softener goes back into daily use
