It's the antimicrobial-treated version of the EPE cartridge — the pleated polyester media is impregnated with a silver-based antimicrobial agent that inhibits bacteria and mould growth within the filter itself between changes. It doesn't disinfect the water passing through it, so it should be paired with a UV or chemical disinfection stage if bacteriological treatment of the water itself is required.

5 micron is the standard rating for this range, giving effective general sediment reduction while keeping pressure drop low — suited to whole-house and pre-filtration duty ahead of finer downstream stages such as carbon or RO.
