Why it fails / why it matters
The adaptor coupling forms the sealed connection between the Fleck control valve body and the bypass or plumbing adaptor beneath it, held together with a retaining clip and O-ring seal. Years of mains pressure cycling, temperature changes and general age can crack the plastic coupling or wear its sealing faces, breaking the joint's seal and causing leaks or a loose fit.

- Relieve pressure in the system before starting work
- Remove the retaining clip holding the valve to the bypass adaptor
- Withdraw the old coupling and fit new O-ring seals
- Fit the new FL13709 coupling and secure it with the retaining clip
- Restore the water supply and check the joint for leaks under pressure
