Why it fails / why it matters

The drive gear train converts continuous rotation from the small motor into the precise, geared movement needed to step the piston and cam stack through each regeneration stage. These gears are made from a technopolymer that's strong but does wear over years of cycling, and a single worn or chipped tooth can cause the whole gear train to slip or grind rather than drive the valve cleanly - which is why replacing all three gears together, as this kit does, avoids one new gear meshing against two worn ones.

How to fit it

1. Turn off the water supply and isolate power to the valve before starting any drive assembly work.
2. Remove the drive housing cover on top of the valve to expose the gear train.
3. Note the position and orientation of each gear as you remove FL25868, FL25870 and FL15135 in turn.
4. Clean out any worn plastic debris or grit from inside the drive housing.
5. Fit the new gears from the FL29237 kit in the same positions and orientation as the originals.
6. Refit the drive housing cover, restore power and water, then run a manual regeneration to confirm smooth, quiet cycling.
