This is the genuine replacement transformer, part LFP0301, for the BWT Liff LW10 electronic scale conditioner, supplied by WrekinWater as a direct plug-in replacement for a failed or damaged original. Signs this needs replacing

  • The LW10 unit shows no lights or display at all, even though the socket is live.
  • The unit powers up only intermittently, or if you jiggle the cable or plug.
  • The transformer casing feels hot to the touch, or looks cracked or discoloured.
  • There's no sign of the conditioner's normal operating indicator despite mains power being present.

The transformer steps your home's 230V mains supply down to the low-voltage power that runs the LW10's electronic control board and coils. Like any external plug-in transformer, its internal windings and output components degrade with age and heat cycling, and the casing itself can crack over time. Once it fails, the whole unit loses power and stops treating your water.

How to replace it

  1. Switch off and unplug the LW10 unit from the wall socket.
  2. Disconnect the low-voltage lead running from the transformer to the LW10 control unit.
  3. Remove the old transformer from the socket.
  4. Plug in the new LFP0301 transformer and reconnect the low-voltage lead to the unit.
  5. Restore mains power and confirm the LW10's indicator lights come on as normal.
  6. If the unit still doesn't power up, or you're not confident with mains electrics, ask a qualified electrician to check it over.
