Signs this seal needs replacing
- Water dripping from the join between the blue bowl and the housing head.
- The old O-ring looking cracked, flattened, or shiny with wear.
- Needing to force the bowl tighter than usual to stop a leak.
- A drop in flow or pressure after the housing has been opened for a cartridge change.
The ORG O-ring is what allows the bowl to seal against the head on these housings under full mains pressure. Because the seal is compressed and released every time the housing is opened for a filter change, it wears and loses elasticity faster than seals that are never disturbed, eventually letting water weep past.
WrekinWater stocks the correct ORG O-ring for this range of housings rather than a generic size, drawing on 15 years of experience fitting Wrekin, LIFF and BWT equipment from its Shropshire base.
How to replace it
- Turn off the water supply and open a tap to relieve pressure in the housing.
- Unscrew the bowl from the housing head with a housing spanner.
- Remove the old ORG O-ring from the head groove.
- Clean the groove and coat the new O-ring lightly with food-safe silicone grease.
- Fit the new O-ring and screw the bowl back on hand-tight plus a small turn.
- Turn the water back on and check the joint for leaks.
