P956 - 1in Rubber Washer - Master

The P956 is a 1in rubber washer designed to seal 28mm water softener hose connections, sitting inside the hose nut to create a watertight joint. This washer sits inside the hose nut and is compressed against the fitting face to form the seal, and like any rubber component it hardens and loses its flex over time. Once it can no longer compress evenly against the joint, water finds a path past it, usually starting as a slow weep that gets worse with time and vibration. A perished washer left in place on a softener connection can lead to ongoing water damage around the unit.

How to fit it

1. Isolate the water supply to the softener and relieve pressure in the hose.
2. Unscrew the hose nut from the fitting and pull the hose clear.
3. Remove the old washer from inside the nut and wipe the sealing face clean.
4. Press the new P956 washer firmly into the nut.
5. Reconnect the hose, hand-tighten, then nip up gently with a spanner.
6. Restore the water supply and check the joint for leaks.
