Signs this needs replacing
- The pump doesn't start at all when the system calls for production.
- The pump hums loudly but produces little or no permeate flow.
- Production or tank refill time has slowed noticeably despite good mains pressure and a healthy membrane.
- The pump is leaking from the housing or motor seal.
The booster pump raises feed pressure to the membrane so the Pallas EF500 can produce water reliably even where incoming mains pressure is modest. Constant on/off cycling wears the motor windings, internal seals and pump head over time, and once these fail the pump can seize, leak, or simply stop delivering enough pressure for the membrane to work properly.
WrekinWater has been supplying water treatment parts from Bettisfield, Shropshire as a family run business for 15 years, serving more than 50,000 customers and earning an Excellent rating on Trustpilot. We stock the correct HK-60 booster pump for your Pallas EF500 system, alongside major brands including Pentair Fleck, Autotrol, Clack and Kinetico.
How to replace it
- Isolate mains power to the system and turn off the incoming water supply.
- Disconnect the pump's low-voltage wiring from the transformer and pressure switches.
- Undo the 3/8" NPT inlet and outlet connections and remove the old pump from its mounting.
- Fit the new HK-60 pump in the same orientation, sealing the NPT connections with fresh PTFE tape.
- Reconnect the wiring, then restore the water supply and check every joint for leaks.
- Restore power and confirm the pump cycles correctly; if you're not confident with both the plumbing and wiring involved, ask a qualified water treatment engineer to fit it.
