Product Description
The QTZ25SE is the replacement quartz sleeve for Daro Saphir 2 and Saphir 3 UV disinfection units, supplied by WrekinWater under part code QJ24479DE. Signs your quartz sleeve needs replacing
- The sleeve has turned cloudy or milky rather than staying transparent.
- There is visible scale, scratching, or a brown film on the glass.
- The Saphir unit's UV monitor is alarming even though the lamp is lit.
- The sleeve has not been changed in around 12 months, the usual service interval.
Inside a Saphir 2 or Saphir 3 unit, the quartz sleeve is the only barrier between the UV lamp and the water flowing past it, and it needs to stay both watertight and optically clear. Mineral scale from hard water and general fouling build up on the outside over time, while the quartz itself can dull with age and cleaning. As transmittance falls, less UV energy reaches the water even though the lamp continues to light and draw power as normal.
WrekinWater has been supplying water treatment parts, including Daro spares, to more than 50,000 customers over 15 years from its base in Bettisfield, Shropshire. Ordering the QTZ25SE ensures you get the sleeve matched to your specific Saphir 2 or Saphir 3 unit, from a family-run supplier rated Excellent on Trustpilot.
How to replace it
- Isolate the water supply to the Saphir unit and disconnect the power.
- Undo the retaining nut at the single end of the housing and withdraw the UV lamp first.
- Slide out the old QTZ25SE sleeve and clean any scale from inside the housing.
- Fit a new O-ring and Teflon washer before inserting the replacement sleeve.
- Refit the UV lamp and reassemble the retaining nut, taking care not to overtighten.
- Restore water and power, check for leaks, and run to drain briefly before normal use.
