Product Description
This reducing bush adapts a 3/4in housing port down to 1/2in female, letting you connect smaller-bore fittings or pipework to a housing that was only ever ported at 3/4in. WrekinWater stocks it as a simple accessory for anyone adapting an existing housing rather than replacing it outright. It's a small part that solves a common mismatch between housing ports and pipework sizes.

Signs you need this part
- Your housing has a 3/4in port but the pipework or fitting you want to connect is 1/2in.
- You're adapting an existing housing for a smaller appliance or tap rather than replacing the whole unit.
- A previous reducing bush has cracked or gone missing.
- You're setting up a new installation and need to step down pipe sizes cleanly at the housing.
Getting the thread size wrong at a housing port is one of the most common causes of a leaking joint, because a fitting that doesn't match the port thread can never seal properly no matter how much tape or force is used. This reducing bush gives you a proper, correctly threaded step-down from 3/4in to 1/2in, so the joint on both sides seals as it should. Without the right adaptor, you're left either forcing a mismatched fitting or leaving the connection loose and prone to weeping.
WrekinWater is a family-run water treatment company based in Bettisfield, Shropshire, with 15 years' experience serving more than 50,000 customers. We stock small adaptor parts like this alongside the housings and systems they're used with, so you can get everything in one order.
How to fit it
- Isolate the water supply and relieve pressure at the housing.
- Remove any existing fitting from the 3/4in port and clean the thread.
- Wrap the bush's male thread with PTFE tape.
- Screw the reducing bush into the 3/4in port, hand-tighten, then nip up with a spanner.
- Connect your 1/2in fitting or pipework into the bush's female outlet.
- Restore the water supply and check both joints for leaks.
