This riser tube from WrekinWater measures 1.05" in diameter by 65" in length and is sized to fit Kennet water softener resin tanks using that tube size. The riser tube runs up through the centre of the resin tank, carrying softened water back up to the control valve while holding the base distributor plate in place, so it's what keeps resin beads out of your pipework. Constant water flow, tank pressure and years of use can cause the plastic to crack or split, especially at the base where it seats into the valve. Once it fails, resin escapes into your plumbing and the valve can no longer regenerate the tank properly, leaving grit in your water and softening performance that keeps getting worse.

How to fit it
- Isolate the water supply to the softener and put the unit into bypass.
- Lift the control valve clear of the resin tank to expose the riser tube.
- Withdraw the old riser tube from the centre of the tank, taking care not to disturb the resin bed.
- Fit the new 1.05" x 65" riser tube, seating it fully into the base distributor.
- Refit the control valve onto the tank, checking the tube engages correctly.
- Restore the water supply and run a regeneration cycle before returning to normal use.
