LD is the Big Blue-equivalent format — a larger-diameter 20-inch cartridge for 20-inch Big Blue housings, giving more carbon volume and a longer service life than the standard-diameter 20-inch SCB.

The SCB uses a powder-activated carbon block, which packs more active surface area into the block than a standard granular/extruded carbon block, giving more effective chlorine, taste and odour reduction for its size. It's Spectrum's standard-grade carbon block, sitting above the ECB Economic range in reduction performance.
