Upper Screen 1.05" bay, fine mesh ULTRA and LF Resin - Master

This is an Autotrol upper distributor screen with a fine mesh weave, sized for the 1.05in bay valve and designed to work with ECO ULTRA and other low-fouling fine mesh resins. WrekinWater supplies it as a spare part for softeners fitted with this valve bay, where it sits above the resin bed to hold the media in place while letting treated water pass through freely.

The upper screen sits at the top of the resin bed inside the valve bay, and its job is purely mechanical: it holds the resin beads in place during service and backwash while letting water flow through unrestricted. Fine mesh resins like ECO ULTRA use a finer, more tightly packed weave than a standard screen because their particles are smaller; fitting the wrong mesh, or a screen that's cracked or perished, lets resin fines escape into the water supply and gradually depletes the resin bed.

How to fit it

1. Isolate the water supply to the softener and relieve system pressure.
2. Remove the valve from the top of the vessel to access the distributor tube and resin bed.
3. Withdraw the old upper screen from the top of the distributor assembly.
4. Fit the new screen in the same orientation, checking it seats fully.
5. Refit the valve onto the vessel, making sure the distributor tube is correctly located.
6. Restore the water supply and run the softener through a manual regeneration before returning it to normal service.
