WrekinWater SE1 Quartz Sleeve- Open Ended (QJ23480)

This open-ended quartz sleeve, part number QJ23480, is the correct replacement for WrekinWater's own SE1 UV disinfection system. It fits over the UV lamp inside the SE1 housing, keeping the lamp completely dry while letting UV-C light pass straight through to treat the water flowing around it. Fit a new sleeve whenever the existing one has clouded, scaled or is due for its annual service.

Signs your quartz sleeve needs replacing

• Visible scaling, cloudiness or scratches along the sleeve
• A yellow or brownish tint building up on the glass
• Your SE1's UV monitor or alarm indicating a low dose
• The sleeve has been in service for around a year

In the SE1, the quartz sleeve is what keeps water away from the UV lamp itself while still allowing UV-C light to shine through and disinfect the water flowing past it. As the glass scales up or scratches with normal use, transmittance drops, meaning less UV energy actually reaches the water even though the lamp continues to operate. Fitting a new QJ23480 sleeve restores the UV dose the system is designed to deliver.

How to replace it

1. Isolate the water supply to the SE1 unit and drain the housing
2. Undo the retaining union or nut to access the lamp chamber
3. Withdraw the UV lamp, then remove the old open-ended sleeve
4. Clean the housing bore and fit new O-rings
5. Slide in the new QJ23480 sleeve and refit the lamp
6. Reconnect the water supply and power, then run to drain briefly before use
