Product Description
This open-ended quartz sleeve, part reference QJ23890, is the replacement sleeve for WrekinWater SE3 and SE4 UV disinfection systems. Note that the SE4 uses two lamps and sleeves per unit, so check how many your system needs before ordering. WrekinWater supplies this as a direct fit, ready to slide into place once the old sleeve is removed.

Signs your quartz sleeve needs replacing
- The sleeve looks visibly cloudy, hazy, or scratched rather than clear.
- You can see brown or yellow staining building up on the outside of the sleeve.
- Your UV monitor or alarm is triggering even though the lamp is lit.
- It's been around 12 months since the sleeve was last changed, the standard UV maintenance interval.
The quartz sleeve is what separates the UV lamp from the water flowing past it, letting UV light through while keeping the lamp itself dry. As scale, iron, or general fouling builds up on the glass, less UV light reaches the water even though the lamp is still lit and looks like it's working normally. On a twin-lamp SE4, a fouled sleeve on just one lamp is enough to quietly reduce overall disinfection performance.
WrekinWater has supplied UV system parts to more than 50,000 customers over 15 years from our base in Bettisfield, Shropshire, and sleeves for our own SE3 and SE4 systems are one of the most common replacement parts we send out. Ordering the correct QJ23890 reference means you get a sleeve that's a known fit, rather than guessing at dimensions from an unrelated brand.
How to replace it
- Isolate the water supply and drain down the UV housing before starting.
- Undo the retaining nut or union and carefully withdraw the UV lamp first, then the old sleeve.
- Clean any scale or residue from inside the housing before fitting the new sleeve.
- Fit new O-rings to the sleeve ends and slide the new quartz sleeve into the housing.
- Refit the lamp, restore the water supply and power, then run the system to drain briefly before normal use.
