Standard housings take 2.5in diameter cartridges, while large diameter (Big Blue/BB) housings take wider 4.5in cartridges with greater dirt-holding capacity and higher flow rates. Big Blue housings suit whole-house or higher-demand applications; standard housings suit under-sink or lower-flow setups.

Clear housings let you visually check the cartridge's condition without opening the housing, which is useful for sediment filters where discolouration signals a change is due. Opaque housings block light, which helps prevent bacterial or algae growth over long service intervals.

A single housing holds one cartridge for one filtration stage. Twin and triple sets combine two or three housings in sequence, letting you run multiple filtration stages (e.g. sediment then carbon) from a single mounted unit.

O-rings are specific to each housing model, so check your housing's brand and size (e.g. SLH10, HF10BB, Pentek No5) against the product listing. If you're not sure which housing you have, contact us with a photo and we'll help identify the correct O-ring.

Most standard housings are rated for cold mains water only. A small number of housings in this range, such as the Atlas hot water housing rated to 80°C, are specifically designed for hot water use — check the individual product listing for its temperature rating before fitting to a hot water line.
