How to fit it

1. Bypass the valve and relieve pressure.
2. Remove the valve body cap and withdraw the piston/spacer stack as a unit.
3. Photograph the stack before disassembly — the order and orientation of seals and spacers matters, and it's easy to mix up.
4. Inspect the piston for scoring or scale as you go; if it's damaged, seals alone won't fix the leak.
5. Fit the new seals and spacers in the same order, lightly lubricated, then reinsert the stack and refit the cap.
6. Restore water and confirm the drain line runs completely dry once the softener returns to service.
