This is a complete 75-litre square brine tank with a black lid, supplied pre-fitted with a 3/8" brine valve assembly and a 500A air check safety float, ready to plumb in alongside a water softener. The tank stores and dissolves the salt used to regenerate the resin bed, while the brine assembly draws saturated brine on cue and the aircheck float protects against overfilling or siphon faults. It's the part to order when an old brine tank has cracked or is no longer safe to rely on, and it's stocked ready to ship by WrekinWater.

Technical specifications

Capacity 75 litres
Shape/Lid Square footprint with black lid
Brine Assembly 3/8" brine valve
Safety Device 500A air check safety float
Position Freestanding, plumbed to the softener's brine line
Material Durable moulded polyethylene

Symptoms that mean you need this part

  • The old brine tank is cracked, split or leaking at the base or seams
  • Salt bridging or crusting keeps recurring because the tank or lid no longer seals against debris and light
  • The brine valve or aircheck assembly inside an old tank has failed, and stripping it down for repair is no longer economical
  • The existing tank is too small to hold enough salt for your softener's regeneration cycle, causing more frequent refills

Why it fails / why it matters

The brine tank's job is to hold rock or tablet salt and enough water to form a saturated brine solution, which the control valve draws through the brine assembly during regeneration to recharge the resin bed. The 500A air check float sits inside the brine well and shuts off the fill or draw once the correct level is reached, protecting against a stuck valve overfilling the tank or siphoning it dry. A black lid and enclosed square design keep light out to discourage algae growth in the brine solution, and once the tank itself has cracked or the internal assembly has failed beyond repair, replacing the whole unit is the practical option.

Why buy this from WrekinWater

WrekinWater supplies complete pre-plumbed brine tanks alongside the wider range of Pentair Fleck, Autotrol, Clack and Kinetico components, built on over 15 years trading from Bettisfield, Shropshire (UK Company No. 11000488) and more than 50,000 customers served. With stock ready to dispatch and an Excellent rating on Trustpilot, replacing a failed brine tank doesn't mean a long wait for parts.

How to fit it

  1. Isolate the softener at the bypass and disconnect the old brine line from the control valve
  2. Empty and remove the old brine tank, disposing of any remaining salt and residual brine safely
  3. Position the new 75L tank in the same location, checking it sits level and has room for the lid to be lifted for salt top-ups
  4. Connect the 3/8" brine line from the tank's brine assembly to the control valve's brine inlet
  5. Add water and the recommended type of salt to the tank, following the softener manufacturer's minimum water level guidance
  6. Restore the mains supply and run a manual regeneration to prime the brine assembly and confirm the aircheck float is drawing and shutting off correctly
