Product Description
The 9252 is the complete remote base for the slave cylinder on Fleck-type duplex (twin-alternating) softener systems, supplied with the 9251 upper distributor already fitted. It mounts onto the riser of the second resin tank and receives the slave piston that's driven remotely by the main control valve, so the two tanks can alternate and provide continuous soft water. WrekinWater supplies this base to installers replacing a cracked, worn or leaking remote base on commercial and high-demand domestic twin-tank installations.

Symptoms that mean you need this part
- The remote base is cracked, split or weeping around the riser connection
- The slave cylinder won't seat correctly or leaks past the base during regeneration of the second tank
- Threads or o-ring seating faces on the base are worn or damaged from repeated servicing
- The second tank fails to come into service reliably even after checking the piston and distributor separately
Why it fails / why it matters
The remote base is the housing that connects the slave tank's riser tube to the slave piston/cylinder and carries the flow signals sent from the main control valve, so any crack, distortion or worn sealing face on the base itself will undermine the whole alternation sequence no matter how good the piston or distributor are. Because the base threads onto the riser and takes repeated disassembly during servicing, the sealing faces and threads are the parts most likely to wear or crack over time. Replacing the complete base, rather than trying to reseal an old one, resets the sealing surfaces and guarantees the distributor inside is correctly matched to the base.

How to fit it
- Isolate the softener at the bypass valve, depressurise the system and drain down the slave tank as required
- Disconnect the tubing linking the remote base to the main control valve, noting port positions
- Unscrew the existing remote base from the tank riser and inspect the riser thread and o-ring for damage
- Fit a new o-ring to the riser and thread on the replacement 9252 base, complete with its pre-fitted upper distributor
- Reconnect the slave cylinder and the tubing to the main valve in the original port positions
- Restore the water supply, run a manual regeneration cycle on the slave tank and check for leaks and correct alternation
