Product Description
Purolite® A200: High-Capacity Type 2 Strong Base Anion Exchange Resin
Purolite® A200 is a premier gel-type, Type 2 strong base anion exchange resin engineered for high-efficiency demineralization, dealkalization, and acid removal. Designed with a unique quaternary ammonium functional group, A200 offers a superior balance of high operating capacity and exceptional regeneration efficiency compared to standard Type 1 resins.
This resin is the industry standard for treating feed-waters with high Free Mineral Acidity (FMA) and effectively removing complex organic matter from surface water supplies. Its robust gel polystyrene structure ensures maximum resistance to physical and osmotic shock in demanding industrial environments.
Core Technical Advantages
1. Superior Operating Capacity & Kinetics
With a total capacity of 1.3 eq/L (28.4 Kgr/ft³) in its chloride form, Purolite A200 provides a cost-effective solution for large-scale water treatment. Its Type 2 functionality allows for better regeneration kinetics, leading to higher throughput between service cycles.
2. Enhanced Regeneration Efficiency
Purolite A200 is optimized for lower rinse volumes and reduced chemical consumption during regeneration. It is particularly effective in counter-flow operation systems, where it significantly outperforms Type 1 resins in salt efficiency and water recovery.
3. Industrial-Grade Physical Stability
The spherical gel beads (300-1200 µm) are crosslinked with divinylbenzene to provide elite durability. This prevents bead breakage during the expansion and contraction phases of the ion exchange process, maintaining a low pressure drop across the resin bed.
Applications & Certifications
-
Industrial Demineralization: Ideal for high-flow water treatment plants.
-
Chloride Dealkalization: Efficiently removes alkalinity for boiler feed and process water.
-
Potable Water Safe: Certified by the WQA to NSF/ANSI-61 Standard, ensuring safety for drinking water applications.
-
Regulatory Compliance: Fully Halal and Kosher certified to meet diverse global manufacturing requirements.

Type 2 resins like A200 offer higher operating capacities and much better regeneration efficiency than Type 1 resins. While Type 1 resins have higher thermal stability, A200 is the preferred choice for waters where high capacity and lower operating costs (less regenerant chemical) are the priority.
Yes. Due to its gel structure and Type 2 functionality, A200 is highly effective at handling surface waters that contain complex organic materials, which can often foul other types of anion resins.
