A200 is a high-capacity gel-type Type 2 strong base anion (SBA) exchange resin supplied in 25-litre bags, used in commercial anion exchange vessels for applications such as dealkalisation, nitrate and sulfate reduction, and general demineralisation trains. Its gel polystyrene structure gives good exchange capacity and regeneration efficiency, making it a common choice where salt (rather than caustic) regeneration is preferred. WrekinWater supplies A200 to installers and water treatment engineers topping up or fully recharging anion vessels that have lost capacity through use or resin fouling.

Symptoms that mean you need this part
- Treated water alkalinity, hardness or TDS is rising sooner between regenerations than it used to
- Run length between regenerations has noticeably shortened even though the regeneration cycle is unchanged
- The resin bed is visibly dark, coated or fouled rather than its original clean bead colour when inspected
- The vessel was drained or lost resin during a service, tank swap or backwash fault and needs topping up to its correct volume
Why it fails / why it matters
Strong base anion resin exchanges chloride ions for the anions it's designed to remove, such as bicarbonate, nitrate or sulfate, and its capacity to do this falls gradually as the exchange sites become fouled by iron, organics or simply worn down by years of regeneration cycles. Once capacity drops, the vessel breaks through earlier in each cycle, meaning treated water quality slips before the next regeneration is due, and no amount of extra salt or caustic in the regeneration will fully restore an exhausted or fouled bed. The only fix is replacing enough resin to bring the vessel back to its correct working volume and exchange capacity.
Why buy this from WrekinWater
WrekinWater has supplied ion exchange media alongside Pentair Fleck, Autotrol, Clack and Kinetico hardware for over 15 years from its Bettisfield, Shropshire base, working with commercial customers who need the right resin grade for dealkalisation and demineralisation duty, not just a generic softening resin. With more than 50,000 customers served and an Excellent Trustpilot rating, WrekinWater is a straightforward source of bulk A200 resin whether you're topping up a vessel or carrying out a full recharge.
How to fit it
- Isolate the vessel, relieve pressure and open the access point or manway to the resin bed
- Remove the existing resin, checking the distributor and underbedding (if fitted) for damage or fouling while the vessel is open
- Calculate the volume of A200 needed to restore the vessel to its designed bed depth, whether topping up or fully recharging
- Load the new resin evenly into the vessel, avoiding trapped air pockets, and refit the distributor or riser assembly
- Backwash the bed at the correct flow rate to classify the resin and remove any fines before bringing the vessel into service
- Carry out an initial regeneration and check treated water quality against the expected specification before handing the vessel back into normal operation
