The Autotrol 255/762 is a complete Logix meter-controlled valve assembly for water softeners, supplied with turbine manifold and transformer as a full replacement control head, and stocked by WrekinWater. Like other metered valves on the 255 platform it triggers regeneration based on actual water usage measured through the turbine rather than a fixed clock, keeping salt and water use in line with real demand. This is the part to order when an existing 255/762 or equivalent metered valve has failed beyond economical repair and the whole control head needs swapping out.

Symptoms that mean you need this part
- The turbine or electronics have failed and the valve no longer regenerates in line with actual water usage
- The valve body is cracked or leaking internally despite replacing seals, spacers and piston kits
- The softener has racked up repeated repair bills and full valve replacement is now the more economical option
- You're replacing an obsolete or discontinued 255/762 valve and need a direct-fit metered replacement
Why it fails / why it matters
The 255/762 depends on its turbine manifold reading flow accurately and its Logix electronics calculating remaining softening capacity correctly, so that regeneration happens exactly when the resin bed needs it rather than too early or too late. Once the turbine wears, the manifold cracks, or the valve body itself has degraded past the point where seal kits restore a reliable seal, replacing the complete assembly is more reliable than patching individual failures, especially given how the meter, electronics and valve body all need to work together accurately. The 255/762 supplies a matched valve, manifold and transformer set so metering accuracy is restored from the outset.
Why buy this from WrekinWater
WrekinWater has supplied Autotrol and Pentair Fleck control valves to installers and homeowners for over 15 years from its Bettisfield, Shropshire base, and as a stockist of the full Pentair Fleck, Autotrol, Clack and Kinetico ranges can confirm this valve matches your existing tank and manifold before you order. With more than 50,000 customers served and an Excellent Trustpilot rating, it's a dependable source for a part that leaves your softener offline until it's fitted.
How to fit it
- Confirm the 255/762 valve and manifold match your existing tank, bypass and riser configuration before ordering
- Isolate the softener at the bypass and relieve system pressure before starting work
- Have a competent installer disconnect the old valve and manifold from the bypass, riser tube, drain and brine lines
- Fit the new 255/762 valve and turbine manifold assembly, aligning the riser tube correctly on the tank
- Reconnect the bypass, drain and brine lines, wire in the transformer, and set the correct capacity and hardness settings on the electronics
- Restore water supply gradually, check every connection for leaks, and run a manual regeneration to confirm meter and valve are working correctly together
