Product Description
The V3022 is Clack's dedicated stack puller tool for WS1 control valves, designed to remove the internal piston and seal stack from the valve body cleanly and without damage. Pulling the stack by hand or with improvised tools risks scoring the bore or bending the piston shaft, so this tool is the recommended method whenever you need to service seals, spacers or the piston itself on a WS1 valve. A one-off purchase for DIYers and a staple for installers who service Clack valves regularly. Stocked by WrekinWater.

Symptoms that mean you need this part
- You need to replace the seal stack or spacers inside a WS1 valve but can't remove the piston cleanly by hand
- Previous attempts to pull the piston have scored the valve bore or bent the shaft
- You're servicing a WS1 valve that's stiff, leaking internally, or losing pressure through the seal stack
- You service multiple Clack WS1 softeners and need the correct tool rather than improvising with pliers or screwdrivers
Why it fails / why it matters
The piston and seal stack inside a WS1 valve body is a precision-fitted assembly, and removing it without the correct tool risks scratching the bore, bending the shaft, or damaging the new seals you're about to fit - any of which can cause leaks or poor sealing once the valve is reassembled. The V3022 stack puller grips the piston shaft correctly and applies even, controlled force to withdraw it, protecting both the valve body and the piston during routine seal and spacer servicing. It's a low-cost investment that pays for itself the first time it avoids a damaged, scored bore.

How to fit it
- Isolate the softener at the bypass valve and shut off the mains supply before opening the valve body
- Remove the valve's end cap or motor assembly to expose the piston/seal stack
- Fit the V3022 stack puller onto the exposed piston shaft according to the tool's grip point
- Apply steady, even pressure to draw the piston and seal stack out of the valve body without twisting or forcing it
- Inspect the bore, piston and seal stack for wear, replacing seals, spacers or the piston as needed
- Reinsert the piston/seal stack by hand, refit the end cap or motor, and run a manual regeneration to confirm the valve cycles smoothly and seals correctly
