Fleck 13509 (FL13509) impeller for 3/4 & 1in Meters

The FL13509 impeller is the small spinning turbine inside Fleck 3/4in and 1in water meters that measures every litre passing through the softener so the valve knows exactly when to trigger a regeneration. Why it fails / why it matters

The impeller spins on its spindle in direct proportion to water flow, and the valve's electronics count those rotations to work out exactly how many litres have passed through before triggering the next regeneration. Fine grit, iron sediment or scale building up on the impeller blades or spindle causes it to spin unevenly or seize slightly, so the meter under-reads or over-reads usage - throwing off the whole regeneration schedule even though every other part of the valve is working normally.

How to fit it

1. Turn off the water supply to the softener before starting any work on the meter.
2. Locate the meter body, usually mounted on the inlet side of the valve or bypass assembly.
3. Remove the meter cap or cover to expose the impeller and spindle.
4. Lift out the old impeller and inspect the housing for grit, scale or sediment build-up.
5. Fit the new FL13509 impeller onto the spindle in the same orientation as the original.
6. Refit the meter cap, restore the water supply and run a manual regeneration to confirm the meter is registering flow accurately.
