Product Description
The Fleck 24115 is the full seal and spacer service kit for the Fleck 5600 control valve, and WrekinWater supplies it to keep older 5600-based softeners sealing correctly between regeneration positions. If your softener is leaking to drain or letting hard water bypass the resin bed, refreshing the piston's seals and spacers with this kit is usually the fix.

Symptoms that mean you need this part
- Water is leaking from the drain line even though the softener is sitting in service mode
- Hard water appears to be bypassing the resin bed despite the softener running its normal cycles
- You hear water hammer or banging in the pipework during regeneration
- On removing the old piston, the rubber seals look flattened, cracked or have visibly hardened
Why it fails / why it matters
The seal and spacer stack sits between the individual ports on the valve body, sealing the piston as it slides through each position during a regeneration cycle. Constant exposure to chlorinated mains water, mineral fines and years of friction cause the rubber seals to compress, harden and eventually split, at which point water starts passing between ports it shouldn't - showing up as leaks to drain, hardness bypass, or unusual noise as the piston no longer seats cleanly.

How to fit it
- Turn off the water supply and switch the valve to bypass
- Remove the piston retainer clip or cap screws and slide the piston assembly out of the valve body
- Strip off the old seals and spacers, noting the order they came off in
- Fit the new seals and spacers from the 24115 kit in the same sequence, lightly lubricating with food-safe silicone grease
- Reinsert the piston assembly and refit the retainer clip or cap screws
- Restore the water supply, take the valve off bypass, and run a manual regeneration to check for leaks and correct operation
