Fleck 25580 - 2in Drain Line Flow Controller (DLFC) 20 - 100 GPM

The Fleck 25580 is a 2-inch drain line flow controller (DLFC) covering the 20-100 GPM range, used on larger commercial and high-flow Fleck softener and filter valves, and WrekinWater supplies it to keep backwash flow rates correctly regulated on these bigger systems. Why it fails / why it matters

The DLFC uses a fixed orifice disc to limit exactly how much water can leave the system during backwash and fast rinse, which protects the resin bed from being flushed out while making sure it gets enough agitation to clean effectively. On commercial systems handling higher flow volumes, that orifice disc can crack under pressure, clog with debris, or wear oversize over time, pushing the actual backwash rate outside the valve's designed range and leading to poor resin cleaning, resin loss to drain, or excessive water and salt consumption.

How to fit it

1. Turn off the water supply and switch the valve to bypass
2. Locate the drain line flow controller fitted in the drain line connection on the valve body
3. Disconnect the drain pipework from either side of the flow controller
4. Remove the old DLFC housing and check the flow rate marking on your original unit against the replacement
5. Fit the new 25580 flow controller in the same orientation, ensuring the flow direction arrow matches the water flow
6. Reconnect the drain pipework, restore the water supply, take the valve off bypass, and run a manual regeneration to confirm correct backwash flow
