WrekinWater stocks the Fleck 28416-US Upper Piston Assembly for the Fleck 2910 softener valve, a genuine Pentair Fleck replacement part for the upper piston stage, aimed at anyone whose softener has started weeping from the top of the valve or letting hardness through part-way into a cycle.

Symptoms that mean you need this part
- Water weeping from the upper section of the valve body around the piston
- Hardness intermittently breaking through, particularly noticeable mid-cycle
- Visible wear grooves, flat spots or scoring when the old upper piston is removed
- A knocking or grinding sound from the upper valve stack during regeneration
Why it fails / why it matters
The upper piston on a 2910 valve controls the flow path during each stage of regeneration and takes repeated frictional wear against the bore every time the valve indexes. As the seal surface wears down with use, it stops making a clean seal between positions, letting water leak past or allowing hardness to bypass the resin bed at certain points in the cycle.
Why buy this from WrekinWater
WrekinWater has supplied genuine Fleck spares to more than 50,000 customers over 15 years from our base in Bettisfield, Shropshire, and stocks Pentair Fleck alongside Autotrol, Clack, Kinetico and other major brands, so this upper piston is matched correctly to the 2910 valve. We're UK Company No. 11000488, rated "Excellent" on Trustpilot.
How to fit it
- Isolate the softener at the inlet and relieve system pressure before starting
- Remove the valve cover and drive assembly to access the upper piston
- Withdraw the old upper piston and inspect the seal surface for wear, grooves or hardened rubber
- Clean the valve bore thoroughly to remove any scale or debris
- Lubricate the new piston assembly with a silicone-based lubricant approved for potable water and fit it in place
- Reassemble the drive assembly, restore the water supply, and run a manual regeneration to confirm correct operation with no leaks
