Product Description
This WrekinWater equal nipple has a male 1in BSP thread at both ends, so you can join two female 1in BSP ports, such as two filter housings or a housing outlet and existing 1in pipework, into a single straight run. It's supplied as a direct fit for Kennet and other systems using standard 1in BSP female ports. Both ends are identical, so there's no wrong way round to fit it.

When you need this fitting
- You need to join two fittings or housings that both have a female 1in BSP port.
- Your existing nipple's thread is worn, rounded or leaking under pressure.
- You're extending 1in BSP pipework or bridging a gap between two matching ports.
- You're plumbing in a Kennet or similar system with a 1in female BSP outlet.
Getting the thread size right on a nipple matters more than it might seem, because a 3/4in nipple forced into a 1in port, or vice versa, will either not engage at all or damage the thread trying. BSP threads seal on the thread form itself once wrapped with tape, so a correctly sized 1in nipple, properly tightened, gives a joint that stays sealed under normal mains pressure without relying on excessive force.
As a family-run business based in Bettisfield, Shropshire, WrekinWater has stocked the exact fitting sizes used across the systems we sell, including Kennet, for 15 years. We're rated Excellent on Trustpilot, and ordering the correct 1in BSP nipple from us means you're not guessing at generic hardware-store threads.
How to fit it
- Isolate the water supply and relieve pressure in the pipework before starting.
- Wrap PTFE tape clockwise around both male threads.
- Hand-tighten the nipple into the first female port.
- Tighten a further quarter to half a turn with a spanner, taking care not to overtighten.
- Fit the second female port onto the other end in the same way.
- Turn the water back on and check both joints for leaks.
