PFC100x10E - 25L - Ultra Resin

PFC100x10E is a 25L pack of ECO ULTRA ion exchange resin from WrekinWater, a fine mesh, low-fouling softener media designed for households on private supplies or water with higher iron content, where standard resin can foul more quickly. The 25L pack size is sized for a full recharge of a typical 10x35 or similar softener vessel.

Signs you need to top up/replace this

• Hardness is returning before the softener's next scheduled regeneration.
• The resin bed looks visibly discoloured, iron-stained, or fouled.
• Softening capacity has dropped even though salt levels and settings are correct.
• The resin is more than around 10-15 years old or has never been replaced since installation.

ECO ULTRA resin works by ion exchange, swapping hardness minerals for sodium as water passes through its fine mesh beads, which are smaller and more tightly packed than standard resin to resist fouling from iron and other contaminants common on private supplies. Over years of use and regeneration cycles the beads gradually lose exchange capacity and can become coated or fouled with iron, chlorine, or organic matter, so even a correctly regenerating softener will let more hardness through until the resin bed is refreshed.

How to top up / replace it

1. Isolate the water supply and relieve pressure before opening the vessel.
2. Remove the control valve to access the resin bed and distributor tube.
3. Extract the old, exhausted resin from the vessel.
4. Rinse the vessel out before adding fresh media.
5. Pour in the 25L of ECO ULTRA resin, keeping the distributor tube centred and clear of debris.
6. Refit the valve, restore water supply, and run a manual regeneration before returning to normal use.
