Product Description
This 10 x 2.5 inch refillable cartridge shell from WrekinWater is the opaque blue version of our standard slimline shell, built to the same dimensions but with a solid body that blocks light from reaching the media inside. It's supplied empty so you can fill it with the loose media of your choice, such as carbon, KDF or calcite, and refill it again once that media is exhausted. It fits any housing sized for a standard 10-inch, 2.5-inch diameter cartridge.

Why you'd choose a refillable cartridge
- You want a light-blocking shell rather than a clear one, to reduce the chance of algae or biofilm forming in stored water.
- You want to fill it with your own choice of loose media, such as carbon or KDF.
- Your existing shell has cracked, clouded or the threads have worn.
- You'd rather buy media in bulk and refill than keep buying sealed pre-packed cartridges.
Light exposure through a clear cartridge shell can, over time, encourage algae or biofilm growth on stored water and media, particularly in cartridges that sit for long periods between changes. The opaque blue body blocks that light while still letting you fill and reuse the shell exactly like the clear version, so it's a straightforward swap if you'd rather not use a see-through housing for this particular media or location.

How to fill and fit it
- Unscrew the end cap from the top of the cartridge shell.
- Pour in your chosen media, leaving a small headspace rather than filling to the brim.
- Refit the diffuser pad over the media, then screw the end cap back on firmly.
- Rinse the filled cartridge under a tap to flush out fine dust before fitting it.
- Insert the cartridge into your housing and reassemble as normal.
- Run the system to drain for a minute or two before using the water, to clear any remaining fines.
