The SE1-SS is a replacement filter head/body for WrekinWater's Prosep SE-series housings, built with 1/2" ports positioned on the same side of the unit. Supplied without a label as a bare spare body, it's intended to replace a cracked, worn or leaking head on an existing SE1 housing, reusing your current bowl and internals. The same-side port layout suits pipework that approaches the housing from one direction.

Signs you need this part
- The existing SE1 housing head is cracked, warped or leaking around the ports.
- The threads on the current body have stripped or rounded off.
- You're changing from an opposite-port layout to a same-side one to suit your pipework.
- The head has gone brittle or discoloured after years under constant water pressure.
The head, or body, of a filter housing does the structural work: it holds the bowl under pressure and is where all the pipework connects. Plastic housing bodies sit under constant mains pressure and can become brittle with age, especially if exposed to direct sunlight or temperature swings. A cracked or failing body will start by weeping at the ports or seams, but left in place it can fail more suddenly under pressure rather than giving much further warning.

How to fit it
- Turn off the water supply and open a downstream tap to relieve pressure in the system.
- Unscrew the housing bowl from the old body and set the cartridge or media aside.
- Disconnect the pipework unions from the old body's ports.
- Fit the new SE1-SS body in place and reconnect the same 1/2" pipework to its ports.
- Refit the bowl with its O-ring and cartridge, hand-tightening or using a housing spanner.
- Restore the water supply and check every joint closely for leaks before leaving it running.
