This is the genuine SITA retaining spring used with domed-ended quartz sleeves in SITA AL Domestic UV disinfection systems. WrekinWater supplies this small but important part on its own for customers whose original spring has weakened, corroded, or gone missing during a sleeve change. It holds the quartz sleeve firmly against its seal at one end of the housing, so the sleeve stays correctly positioned around the UV lamp.

This spring applies gentle constant pressure to hold the domed end of the quartz sleeve firmly against its O-ring seal, keeping the sleeve correctly positioned and the joint watertight even as the housing goes through pressure changes and temperature cycling. Once the spring corrodes or loses its tension, the sleeve can shift slightly out of position, which risks the end seal weeping or the sleeve sitting off-centre around the lamp. It's an inexpensive part, but without it the far more expensive sleeve and seal can't do their job properly.

How to fit it
- Isolate the water supply and power to the UV unit, then drain the housing before starting.
- Undo the retaining nut or union at the domed end of the housing.
- Carefully withdraw the lamp, then the quartz sleeve, noting the spring's original position.
- Remove the old or missing spring and check the O-ring and end cap for wear.
- Fit the new spring in the same position, then reinsert the sleeve so the spring seats it against the O-ring.
- Refit the lamp, restore water and power, and run the system to drain briefly before use.
