Product Description

The 3022017 is the genuine one-piece spring fitted inside Autotrol 367 and 368 series control valves, sitting above the rotating disc to hold the disc stack under even pressure against the stationary disc beneath it. Without adequate spring tension the discs can't seal properly against each other, allowing water to cross between ports during regeneration. Stocked by WrekinWater, this is a small, inexpensive part worth replacing any time the disc stack is opened up for servicing or when cross-flow symptoms point to a loss of seating pressure.

Technical specifications

OEM Part Number 3022017
Component One-piece disc stack spring
Compatible With Autotrol/Pentair 367 and 368 control valves only
Function Loads the rotating disc against the stationary disc to maintain a seal
Position Fitted above the rotating disc, beneath the top plate
Material Stainless steel
Brand Autotrol

Symptoms that mean you need this part

  • The valve shows cross-flow or hardness bleed-through even after fitting a new disc kit
  • The spring is visibly weak, corroded, distorted or has lost its shape when the top plate is removed
  • Regeneration is inconsistent or the valve doesn't seat cleanly between cycle positions
  • You're fitting a new disc kit and want to replace the spring at the same time to guarantee full seating pressure

Why it fails / why it matters

The disc stack in a 367 or 368 valve only seals correctly if the rotating disc is held under consistent pressure against the stationary disc beneath it, and that pressure comes entirely from the one-piece spring sitting above it. If the spring weakens, corrodes or loses its shape, the discs can shift fractionally apart under flow, letting water cross between ports that should be isolated from each other, which shows up as hardness bleed-through, a leaking drain line, or an inconsistent regeneration even when the discs themselves are otherwise sound. Because it's a low-cost part, it's worth replacing alongside any disc kit rather than reusing a spring of unknown condition.

Why buy this from WrekinWater

WrekinWater has stocked genuine Autotrol 367/368 spares for over 15 years from its Bettisfield, Shropshire base, keeping small but essential parts like this spring in stock alongside the disc kits and top plates they're fitted with. As a stockist of the full Pentair Fleck, Autotrol, Clack and Kinetico ranges, and rated Excellent on Trustpilot by more than 50,000 customers, it's an easy way to make sure a service job is done properly first time.

How to fit it

  1. Isolate the system at the bypass and relieve pressure before opening the valve
  2. Remove the top plate retaining screws or clips and lift off the top plate
  3. Lift out the existing spring and rotating disc, noting the orientation of each
  4. Inspect the disc faces and fit a new disc kit if there's any scoring or wear
  5. Fit the new 3022017 spring above the rotating disc, then refit the top plate and secure it evenly
  6. Restore water supply and run a manual regeneration to confirm the valve seats cleanly through every cycle stage

Frequently asked questions

It's not always necessary, but if the spring looks weak, corroded or distorted, or you're already replacing the disc kit, it's a cheap way to guarantee full seating pressure on the new discs.

No, the 3022017 is specific to the 367 and 368 valve series and isn't interchangeable with other Autotrol or Pentair control valves.

If you've already fitted a new disc kit and are still seeing cross-flow or hardness bleed-through, a weak or distorted spring failing to hold the discs together under pressure is a likely cause.
