DN40, DN50 & DN80 - EPDM Seal for Basket

This larger EPDM basket seal from WrekinWater fits Greenlife DN40, DN50 and DN80 closed circuit filters, sealing the strainer basket against the filter body on these bigger pipe sizes.

Signs this seal needs replacing

• Weeping around the basket when the system is under pressure.
• Debris appearing downstream, suggesting water is bypassing the basket seal.
• The old seal feeling hard or cracked rather than pliable when removed.
• Persistent leaks even after the basket has been reseated.

On the larger DN40 to DN80 Greenlife filters, this seal has to hold a bigger basket firmly against the housing under greater flow and pressure. As with the smaller sizes, sustained exposure to warm circuit water and dosing chemicals gradually hardens the EPDM, and a seal under more mechanical load tends to show wear sooner.

How to replace it

1. Isolate the section of the closed circuit system feeding the filter and relieve pressure.
2. Open the filter body and remove the strainer basket.
3. Take out the old, perished seal.
4. Clean the sealing surfaces and lightly grease the new seal with food-safe silicone grease.
5. Refit the basket with the new seal correctly seated.
6. Repressurise the system and check thoroughly for leaks before leaving it running.
