Lock the head, release pressure via the flush valve, twist off the spent cartridge and twist on the new one, then flush before returning the machine to service, using 3/8" push-fit connections.

At bypass setting 0, the Medium cartridge is rated for 88,246 litres and the Large for 154,430 litres. Actual life will vary with your machine's cycle count and local water quality — the optional digital head is the most reliable way to track exactly when a change is due.

It's returned through IX Water's takeback scheme rather than recycled conventionally — the resin is regenerated and the cartridge itself is reused.
