Wrekin Water stocks complete UV disinfection systems from Wrekin SSi and SE, Atlas, SITA, and other leading brands, alongside the power supplies and controllers that run them. UV systems use ultraviolet light to neutralise bacteria and other microorganisms in your water without adding any chemicals, making them a common final stage in private water supply, borehole, and commercial water treatment.

Sizing a UV System

Systems in this range are rated by flow rate in litres per minute (lpm) — from smaller domestic units around 10-30 lpm up to larger commercial systems handling 45+ lpm. Choosing a system rated above your property's peak flow rate ensures the water gets adequate UV dose at every tap, even when multiple outlets are running.

Frequently asked questions

Water passes through a chamber where it's exposed to UV-C light, which damages the DNA of bacteria and other microorganisms so they can no longer reproduce or cause illness. It works without adding any chemicals and doesn't change the taste or smell of your water.

Choose a system rated above your property's peak flow rate in litres per minute (lpm), accounting for multiple outlets potentially running at once. If you're unsure of your peak flow rate, contact us with your property size and number of bathrooms and we'll help you find the right size.

Yes, if you're on a private water supply, borehole, or well. Bacteria and other microorganisms aren't visible, so clear water isn't necessarily safe water — a test report is the only way to know for certain, and UV disinfection is a common final safeguard even on otherwise well-treated supplies.

Roughly every 9,000-12,000 hours, around once a year for typical continuous use — UV output drops before the lamp visibly fails, so it's best to replace it on schedule rather than waiting for a failure.

Yes — sediment in the water can shield microorganisms from UV light and reduce the system's effectiveness, and can also coat the quartz sleeve, blocking UV transmission. A sediment pre-filter fitted ahead of the UV system is strongly recommended for reliable disinfection.
